Fantastic Transcripts'

Best of Washington Crossing

07/10/01

Here's a typical morning at Washington Crossing at around 9:45 am. Most people are at work, and the area is pretty quiet. But it starts to pick up around noon as people come out for lunch and shopping, and is busy until 6 pm when it's nearly deserted again after everyone's gone home.

07/12/01

This is a view up Winter Street towards the Boston Common (the trees at the end of the street).

07/13/01

A closer view of the Marketplace at Filene's, where you can get a good buy on fresh fruit and vegetables.

07/16/01

A view from further up Washington Street, with the police kiosk and police car at far left, and a pushcart vendor on the right. Washington Crossing has been a pedestrian mall for more than 10 years.

07/17/01

A rainy day at Washington Crossing.

07/19/01

The view down Summer Street with Macy's on the right and Filene's on the left.

07/19/01

The view up Washington Street towards the new Millenium Place.

07/19/01

The beautiful rear entrance of Macy's, built in 1949, now called One Summer Street.

07/23/01

From this angle, you can see the front facade of Filene's on the right and the tall buildings of the financial district in the far center.

07/26/01

This is the official front entrance of Macy's. Last year, the store overhauled the facade to make it look like a bow of a ship, symbolizing perhaps that the store is the former flagship of the old Jordan Marsh chain that Macy's bought.
